Amber gets cochlear implant turned on.
Amber had her cochlear implant turned on November 20th. She can hear noises but is unable to hear actual words yet. The audiologist says she should be hearing better in about a month. Her brain should remember sounds but it will take some time. We are practicing with books on audio to try to help her along. They say that's the best thing to do. She did hear the clock ticking on the wall, the keypad on her cell & the turn signal in the car. At first she was just hearing a static like sound but that only lasted one day. Now she hears "echo" sounds. Hopefully things will be better by Christmas. We plan to return to Pittsburgh in Jan. for an office visit & again in March for a lung biopsy. I will update again soon. Thanks for all the prayers & well wishes!
Darrell & Tracy
